Homebuilders’ Care is a new program that the Nova Scotia Home Builders’ Association (NSHBA) has started in an effort to meet the needs of non-profit organizations that help others but have issues with the space they work in.

The Renovator’s Council at the NSHBA welcomes any non-profit organizations to apply to have their building or renovation needs met by a volunteer and donation driven team.  The Council reviews all applications and evaluates them on the greatest need.  These projects are then managed by donors and volunteers to have all needs met.

This is a great program that allows all of us members of the NSHBA to give back to our community and help these wonderful organizations.

If you have any questions please phone Sherry Donovan at 450-5558 or email sgrant@nshba.ns.ca. If you are an organization and would like to be considered for this program, please submit an application form.

Coun. Debbie Hum, Sheila Fougere, Patrick Murphy, Project Manager Peter Briand, Wee Care Representative, Wee Care Cook Paula, Central Nova President Tamara Barker-Watson, MP Peter Stoffer & Leader of the Opposition Darrell Dexter.

The NSHBA has now completed its first Homebuilders Care renovation project. The Wee Care Development Centre received a completely renovated, fully donated kitchen and energy efficient appliances.

In a four week time frame, NSHBA members completely renovated the kitchen facilities of the Wee Care Development Centre at 5217 Young St. Time and materials have been generously donated by Econo Renovations, WhiteStone Developments, A & H Renovations, Muller Renovations, JB Quality Construction Services, GE Mabe Canada, Craftmade Kitchens, Wackys Floor Design Centre, Color Your World, Taylor Timbr-Mart, Conserve Nova Scotia, Reliable Rooter Plumbing, uberHome Technology Integration, Living Lighting Home Décor, Kaycan Ltd., Boncor Building Products, Atlantic Countertop and Eddy Group.

The Wee Care Development Centre is a non profit community service which prepares special and regular needs children for public or private school. Project Manager Peter Briand of Econo Renovations and Chairman of the NSHBA Renovators’ Council is enthusiastic about the project’s overall success. “Working on this project with our members has been a truly rewarding experience,” says Briand. “It is great to see people come together to make a great cause like this so successful.”

On October 27th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am these efforts were rewarded at an official opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at the centre located at the corner of Young & Barrington streets. This project is only the first of many dedicated to help Nova Scotians in need.
