Exterior Face-Lift
Project
The owners of
this home decided that since their home had been built in 1945,
and little work had been done to the exterior since that time besides
basic maintenance and upkeep, it was in dire need of a face-lift
(see photo 1).
The windows
in the home were the original windows that had been installed at
the time the home had been built and were drafty in the winter months
making it more difficult to heat the home. New energy efficient
windows and doors were chosen to help with this problem. As the
home has a significant number of windows, this was a very important
feature for the homeowners as it would help them to more effectively
heat their home during the colder months of the year. The result
was an improved look with reduced drafty spots.
To further improve
the home's aesthetic appeal, siding and a new roof were installed,
with the shingles complimenting the colour of the new siding. The
front step area of the home was expanded to include a larger covered
area complete with decorative columns to further enhance the home's
new makeover (see photo
2).
Changing the
look of your home through renovations cannot only add years to your
home's longevity, but it also improves the satisfaction that the
homeowner has towards their dwelling.
