House addition

This renovation project that J. Bungay Construction Company is currently in the midst of is located in Seaforth (see photo 1). The homeowners, when they approached the renovator, were unsure as to what exactly they would like to accomplish with this renovation. They were, however, aware of the things within the home that they were not completely satisfied with. One major concern was that when they arrived home late in the evening, they were greeted with a dark driveway, so it was first decided upon that a garage would be required.

As well, the entry to their home was a small entryway, only 42" deep, so this would have to be enlarged. Wooden doors were a preference and they admired the look of them, so this change would need to be made.

After these decisions they felt that it would be a great idea to have a deck that would better suit their needs and accommodate them in the summer barbecuing months and even better to sit and take advantage of the spectacular seaside view.

After discussions with their professional renovator and some in-house CAD drawings (see photo 2), 3-D renderings and some research, an addition of a 24' garage, a new 8'x10' extended foyer, complete with custom built windows and custom built double doors, and a deck on top of the new garage that will serve as a great spot for barbecues and the spectacular sunsets, were decided upon.

The project features a complete re-siding of the home using James Hardie siding, Shouldice-Antique Stone on the foyer, and an energy efficient (faux wooden) fiberglass door with custom etched glass, which will be stained to match the oak casing.

To date, the framing is almost complete.
