Addition Project
Prior to the
renovation of this project, completed by Muller
Custom Renovations, this dwelling was a cottage (see
photo 1) that consisted of very small chopped up rooms that
did not offer the homeowner a good use of space.
To enhance the
home and increase the living space, a 15'x15' addition was built
onto the existing structure (see
photo 2). The end result allowed the homeowner the much
needed space that they required and a better design layout. The
addition is now where the homeowners' master bedroom is located,
which includes an ensuite bathroom and two closets, one of which
is walk-in.
Electric baseboard
was the heating source this family chose along with energy efficient,
Low-E argon windows for the addition, as well as replacements for
the home's existing windows. As an added feature, the homeowners
chose a garden window for the master bedroom to increase light and
add to the aesthetic appeal.
Cedar shingles
were used and the entire home was repainted. A deck was built
(see photos 3 & 4),
complete with glass panels, so as not to obstruct the breathtaking
view of the ocean that can be seen from this home.
The homeowner
finds the new space a tremendous asset and is currently looking
at options for future renovation projects that will further enhance
the family's needs.
